Founder and Designer, Mundane Matters
Danling Xiao pursues her passion in design and entrepreneurship with a strong focus on sustainability. Having been in the design industry for 10 years, Danling is considered a rare multi-talent, whose expertise spans a wide range of areas in design, marketing and social media.
Danling founded Mundane Matters, a practice that designs digital media, experiences and products that inspire positive environmental and social change. Mundane Matters' fruit and vegetable sculptures have been featured in more than 30 online publications and TV channels in the world within a short time since it was first launched in 2015. In 2018, Mundane Matters has completed a 24-metre tall installation, Wasteland, presented by City of Sydney Art & About. Made from recycled marine debris collected from the Great Barrier Reef, Wasteland aims at raising awareness for marine pollution and circular economy approach.
As a multi-disciplinary design practice, Mundane Matters has also won projects such as City of Sydney Chinese New Year Festival Year of the Dog hero art and SiteWorkhoarding artwork, as well as working with clients such as Virgin Australia, Bayer Australia, OzHarvest, Two Good Co, UTS, Shellharbour Council and City of Canada Bay.
