The first of its kind in Australia.
DESIGN CITY | BUILDING AN INNOVATION ECOSYSTEM
Symposium, hosted by Deakin University, DesignMind and the City of Greater Geelong – Australia’s only designated UNESCO City of Design – brings together business leaders, governance bodies and research & educational institutions to explore the role of Design & Creativity in creating innovation ecosystems.
An ecosystem model of innovation requires interconnected pathways between the three key actors of an innovation ecosystem Businesses, Governance bodies (local, state and federal) and Research & Educational Institutions. The ecosystem model explores the creation of new integrated value chains across these ecosystem actors along with social, cultural, political and economic resources that enable innovation and have a successful sustainable impact.
The Symposium aims to introduce the concept of a “Design-Enabled Innovation Ecosystem” and will explore the value of DESIGN, both as a creative process and as a systemic methodology.
We will kick-start the symposium with the question:
Is it possible to re-consider the utilisation of Design from a Systemic perspective to drive, enable and cultivate the creation of new and integrated value chains?
Over two days the Symposium will feature a unique blend of content delivered by international and local thought and business leaders, innovators, CEOs and creative minds. Participants will be inspired by some of the world’s most renowned Design and System Thinkers.
