A recent UK survey (validated in Australia) showed that 86% of clients want to build a relationship with their design supplier. They want to work with designers with knowledge of their business and understand their challenges.
So how do you designers build that relationship? Where can they go to meet and network with clients?
The answer is LinkedIn. Of all the social media channels, LinkedIn is the channel of choice for most clients. They’re present and open to sharing knowledge and capabilities. But where are the designers?
Generally, designers present on LinkedIn are not using it to its full potential – an opportunity missed.
We’ve written a 3-hour workshop specifically tailored to Australian designers to build client relationships and chase new business. There’s a lot of LinkedIn workshops available aimed at amassing a huge number of connections and managing them through software. Our workshop is different. It’s about building relationships.
It's practical and hands-on, covering topics such as:
Two testimonials from a recent Melbourne workshop: Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge around Linkedin and specifically how designers/business owners can best utilise the platform. As someone who has dabbled somewhat already, it was very helpful to see how a strategic approach has the potential to reap benefits and drive new possibilities. There was a tricky combination of expertise in the room, from complete beginners to familiar users, which I felt you were able to handle easily. The format of presenting information in an informal setting worked really well, with the challenge at the end of the afternoon a brilliant way to make us put learnings into practice.

I went onto the Design Business Council Linked In Workshop with an old, but unloved LinkedIn profile, looking for some clarity on how it should look from an industry point of view, and how I could make it work for me. I came out after a delightful three hours with some great ideas and confidence on how to implement them. It felt like more than just a workshop, Carol and Greg worked effortlessly together to make for a very personal experience, with a crystal clear understanding of my particular work niche and how best to represent it. Many Thanks!
