Celebrating women in design leadership // eskimo limited edition book launch
Too long has the creative industry been dominated by male leaders, while opportunities and support for women to step up and lean in into leadership roles have been lacking. While design culture in business is rapidly being adopted by progressive organisations, the boys club still often pervades. Men are a major part of the equality solution.
We’d like to share some stats, discuss mentorship, and create conversation on the topic of what an inclusive, creative culture looks like. How do we create better accessibility for women and champion their career paths in design? How do we support both family and career?
In conjunction with the launch of a 384 page retrospective book ‘Fall in Love, not in Line’, Founders of creative agency eskimo, Natasha Hasemer and Zoë Pollitt, are hosting an evening to celebrate women in design leadership.
Zoë and Tash will discuss their 20 year journey with eskimo, along with three design leaders Mirella Marie, Vivien Sung and Josie Young who will present their ideas and views on leadership, mentorship and the shifting culture within organisations. A fun evening to bring us together through short presentations, a panel discussion and most importantly a chat over drinks.
Limited edition book launch, with an opportunity to purchase on the night.
Natasha Hasemer and Zoë Pollitt have focused their business in the fashion, retail, property and luxury sectors. Having spent their early careers working side by side in the Art Department of Vogue Australia, together they developed a somewhat utopian vision of a community where creatives of all disciplines could work collaboratively to deliver incredible outcomes.
Mirella Marie is the founder and creative director of Vertigo, an internationally renowned brand design studio, and founder and director of Womentor, a mentorship program for women in graphic design.
Vivien Sung is a design strategist, educator and facilitator specialising in human-centered design and research, cross-cultural collaboration and facilitating design and innovation to solve complex societal problems.
Josie Young is a Sydney based designer working at Christopher Doyle & Co. and winner of the inaugural AGDA Emerging Designer of the Year Award 2018.
