As creatives we’re sometimes briefed to share our stories and showcase our culture with great interest. As Australians however, we like to keep it real and not blow our trumpets too loud. The great challenge with Australian storytelling is to not only captivate our audience, but to do this with great respect to our indigenous heritage, unique landscapes, diversity of people and own measured sense of culture awareness. The identity for The Black Swan State Theatre Company of WA’s 2020 Season approaches universal themes through a distinctly refreshing, modern and local lens.
