The Call for Entries for the Melbourne Design Festival's 1st Australian Poster Annual, is now open to designers and artists across Australia.
The 1st Australian Poster Annual calls for Australian designers and artists to respond to the idea captured in Australia's national anthem - Our land abounds in nature's gifts; of beauty rich and rare.
In June, a distinguished panel of judges from the international association Alliance Graphique Internationale will select 50 designs which will be printed and exhibited at the inaugural Australian Poster Annual at Federation Square's atrium from 8-30 July, 2005. Additional posters will be posted throughout Melbourne's city streets and laneways during the Festival.
"The Australian Poster Annual has been created to recast the poster as a formative space for creative play, bringing to life the cityscape with a multiplicity of expressions that are as individual as the designers who have created them," said Melbourne Design Festival Director, Kathy Demos.
The 1st Australian Poster Annual will travel to France in January 2006 where it will be exhibited at the Australian Embassy in Paris.
Australian designers and artists who are interested in submitting works to the 1st Australian Poster Annual are asked to visit htpp://www.nationaldesigncentre.com and submit their poster design before 1 June, 2005.
The results of the judging process will be available at http://www.nationaldesigncentre.com on 15 June, 2005.
The principal sponsors of the inaugural Australian Poster Annual are paper specialists, Spicers and Paperpoint.
