Domenico Bartolo
Designer Director
21-19

Born in Sydney, Australia 1974

At 31, Dom is an international designer director and co-founder of 21-19, a design and communications agency, based in Melbourne, Australia.

Over ten years, he has established himself as a leading designer director, working both in Australia and Europe, on broadcast design and motion graphic projects. His work is highly rewarded and respected. Having consistently won major awards every year, including the coveted, 'Best of Show' at the Australian & NZ BDA Promax Awards for his opening title sequence for the SBS drama series 'Going Home'. His branding work for the international airline Qantas, was awarded the highest honour by the Australian Graphic Design Association, a Pinnacle Award at the 2002 biennial.

Most recently his short films have found audiences in european contemporary art galleries, with his short film 'The Reality Project' selected to feature at the prestigious 10th anniversary of the 'onedotzero' moving image festival at the Institute of Contemporary Art, London in 2006.

A regular speaker at Australian design colleges and universities, he was recently voted as the most inspirational speaker at the international AGIdeas design conference held in Melbourne in 2002.

Endeavouring to explore visual communication, Dom is dedicated to promoting creativity within the Australian design community. He is a founding member of the Australian INfront (www.australianinfront.com.au), a non-profit based community web project. Whose aim is to elevate the perception of Australian design around the world, by initiating collaborative projects and visual documentation. He is the creator of the popular VISUAL RESPONSE project found on INfront.

In 2005 he was elected to the Victorian AGDA Council where he is tasked with further promoting the Australian design community, both locally and abroad.

Ever vigilant, he is driven by an overwhelming passion for design and creative excellence.

This is broadcast design work at it's best. Beautifully executed and superbly directed. The vision of the project to establish an identity revolving around a set of unique characters living in a uniquely landscaped world is what makes it so special. Successfully establishing an episodic narrative which is perfectly suited to the format of television and a stunning visual palette make this work a stand out.
