by AGDA Awards 2006 Committee
The AGDA National Biennial Awards recognise design excellence and help to define Australia's design culture and identity. Apart from recognising the fantastic design talent in this country the Awards also serve to capture a reference point for future generations. A time capsule, if you will, of design excellence and achievement that continues to grow with the industry each Awards cycle.
Judging for the AGDA Awards and the subsequent results are tightly guarded till the Awards presentation event. This is done to protect the integrity of the Awards program and to ensure that the moment of recognition is not spoilt before the announcement of finalists, distinction and pinnacle winners.
The AGDA Awards gala celebration dinner is more than people collecting a certificate or the much coveted Pinnacle Award. It's about likeminded personalities celebrating great work and great thinking about design. It's about letting your hair down and having a bloody great night. Enjoying a few tales, and a few ales, with friends old and new. We encourage people from all facets of the design industry to attend the AGDA Awards event in the spirit of participation and camaraderie. It doesn't matter if you didn't enter any work into the Awards or if you're in town hoping to add to your collection of pinnacles. We're all the same at heart, driven by a passion for design. Let's share that passion and revel in the opportunity this evening presents.
As with Awards past this event is being produced by a small, dedicated committee of AGDA members with fantastic support from sponsors and suppliers to our industry. Prices for the tickets and the Awards compendium are subsidised to keep costs as low as possible. The evening will be an absolute blast with Shaun Micallef at the hosting helm. Come along and witness the acknowledgment of finalist, distinction and pinnacle winners. Be awestruck at the legacy of our AGDA Spicers Paperpoint Hall of Fame inductees. And gather a glimpse of what lies ahead with the inaugural AGDA Student Award winners.
Fine food, great music, old friends and new looking forward to seeing you all in Canberra on Saturday 28 October!
