Simon Pemberton, 2004 AGDA Awards Chair has announced that the 7th AGDA
national premier event will be held over two nights in October in
Sydney, and the events of this Awards program are part of AGDA's
journey:
" Journeys are inspired by an idea. They have starting points and
destinations. Journeys are often done in stages and what starts out as
a destination can become a stepping stone...a planetary orbit from which
to sling shot into a deeper space. Journeys give us perspective. We see
where we've come from and where we want to go. Journeys give us stories
through experience. And journeys introduce us to wider audiences.
Welcome to AGDA's seventh biennial Awards. Let AGDA's mission to promote
visual communication as a discipline, profession and cultural force be
your pied piper and join our journey. It's a journey that started
somewhere beyond Mildura. It's coming to Sydney in October. We'll see
you there."
For the first time in its 14 year history, this years Awards are being
held over two nights; the first night Friday 29th October is the Awards
exhibition cocktail party, followed by the Awards presentation dinner on
Saturday 30th October.
The four members of the Sydney Awards steering committee are Simon
Pemberton, David Minnett, Annette Harcus and Paul Garbett. Plans are
well underway for the Call for Entries to be posted out in May and close
of entries deadline has been set for June 25th. Notices and pdfs will be
posted simultaneously on the web site.
In the meantime, preparation of entries can be made for corporate
identity, publications, annual reports, books, digital media, packaging,
posters, editorial, illustration, photography, typography, environmental
design, self promotion, and miscellaneous categories.
There are some exciting additions to the AGDA Awards categories which
will be announced in the ensuing weeks. Watch this space!
