Five Million More for Multimedia
8th May, 2011
Screen Australia has just announced a new All Media Fund of $3-5 million to encourage interactive or multi-platform, innovative, risk-taking storytelling.
The Digital Ignition stream of the fund provides development support for innovative, interactive projects witrh a strong storytelling component. Projects can include games, websites, apps, alternate and augmented reality and interactive drama with the emphasis on demonstrating a strong narrative.
The All Media Production stream provides production support for linear and non-linear interactive projects that push creative boundaries, regardless of screening device.
Screen Australia's chief executive, Dr Ruth Harley, believes that it has never been more important to support Australian content on Australian screens no matter how it is accessed or downloaded.
"Access, diversity and choice should be at the heart of the convergence debate and Australian stories are an important factor in this equation. In this context we hope to encourage traditional and new players to develop break-out programming," she said.
The All Media Fund is part of a total $30-35 million funding provided by the final Convergent Television Guidelines taking effect on 1 July. Applications for the inaugural All Media round close on 8 August.
