D&AD Awards 2011 Call For Entries Now Open
11th November, 2010
D&AD and the 2011 Awards
The President speaks in as many languages as possible
The Team
In 2011 D&AD teamed up with WorkClub (creative), HungryMan (production) and TAG (translation and print production) to produce the Awards Call for Entries campaign.
D&AD President - Sanky
D&AD's current President, Simon 'Sanky' Sankaraya, is a founding partner of interactive agency AllofUs. He runs the team of visual designers in his role as art director.
Previously, he studied information design at Nottingham, and joined Digit at its inception as an art director. He has spoken at Design Indaba, IDN conferences in Sydney and Singapore, Flash Forward, The Typographic Circle and Design Yatra in Goa. He also teaches at the London College of Communication, Hyper Island in Sweden and Space Invaders in Copenhagen. Sanky is not multilingual and by his own admission 'has never been all that good at languages.'

Creative
The idea behind this year's Call for Entries is The President Speaks In As Many Languages As Possible.
D&AD's current President, Sanky attempted to learn a tongue-in-cheek speech and deliver it as The President in as many languages as possible.
The only language Sanky speaks is English so he had no head start, he had to learn each language phonetically and work with voice coaches until he got the speech right - or as near to right as possible.
He made it to 13 over two days. Russian proved to be a bridge too far. Don't be surprised if a few further installments appear over the next couple of months.
The speeches are available at to view at www.youtube.com/dandad
