Business Name Registration Bill
In April and May 2010 a series of forums in each capital city were organised to consult on the proposed national business name registration system.
The purpose of business name registration is to allow consumers to ascertain who is behind a business or trading name.
Exposure drafts of the Business Name Registration Bill and the associated Business Name Registration (Fees) Bill have been released. The draft legislation is available on the Commonwealth Department of Innovation, Industry, Science and Research's website. The website link is

AustralianBusinessNumberABNBusinessNamesRegistrationProject.aspx
The website provides links to the exposure drafts, a fact sheet and frequently asked questions relating to the Australian Business Number (ABN) Business Names Registration Project.
Comments on the exposure drafts should be sent to businessnamesconsultation@innovation.gov.au by 27 June 2010.
Dan Pike Joins Inaugural AGDA Student Brief Jury Panel
Dan began his career in Brisbane with a large multi-disciplinary design firm, linking his Built Environment Bachelor from QUT with the world of graphic design. This took him to Sydney developing both way-finding and corporate identity strategies for residential estates, shopping centres and the international airport.
To escape the Sydney Olympics mayhem, Dan decided it was time to see more of the world, albeit from the window of a UK web design consultancy. On his return, a small studio gave him a chance to explore the more strategic aspects of design including business direction and project management, for both start-ups and established clients.
Dan played an integral role in repositioning the studio with a new identity and collateral system, and after many experiences and skin thickening projects later, did it all again for himself, with The Letter D.
Although he enjoys being nuzzled in domestic bliss, Dan has some big plans for The Letter D, and the local design industry.
AGDA is delighted to welcome Dan to the AGDA Student Brief jury panel!
