A Grotesk New Typeface
10th May, 2010
Kris Sowersby in association with Duncan Forbes have introduced a new typeface to the design world.
Founders Grotesk is the result of research conducted on a 1912 Miller & Richard specimen. Sowersby and Forbes had discussed the nature and usefulness of the classic grotesks, and the possibility of creating a new one.
Founders Grotesk was not intended as revival of the Miller & Richard Grotesques, rather used as a starting point.
"Founders Grotesk is a gentle amalgamation of several fonts, resolutely designed for contemporary typographic usage." Kris writes on the Klim website.
Founders Grotesk was commissioned for completion for the upcoming redesign of a newspaper, lead by deLuxe & Associates. It includes five weights in roman and italic.
Kris will be among the judges for the inaugural AGDA Student Brief - Words of Optimism.
