Design Council Releases Latest Design Industry Research 2010 Report

The Design Council has released its latest survey of the UK design industry, with an Industry Insights supplement having appeared in the 24 March edition of Design Week. The supplement includes analysis of the 2010 research findings and articles on how designers and clients see the development of the industry, their businesses and opportunities and challenges.

In autumn 2009 the Design Council conducted its second comprehensive survey of the UK design industry. The survey covered more than 2200 design businesses including in-house design teams, design consultancies and freelance designers working across communications, digital & multimedia, interior & exhibition, product & industrial, fashion and service design disciplines. Design businesses were asked about the profile and size of their businesses, their clients and the competition they face, their business practices and the education, training and skills of their employees.

The Design Council has created as a series of factsheets that break the research findings down by region, by discipline and by business type. There is also a factsheet that examines how design businesses operate and another looking at education, training and skills within the design industry.
