Autodesk sign on as AGDA Premium Partner 2010
26th January, 2010
AGDA is proud to welcome Autodesk as Premium Partner for the AGDA National Biennial Awards 2010.
Autodesk have come a long way since its founding 25 years ago as a pioneer in the world of computer-aided design (CAD). Their flagship product, AutoCAD software, has become synonymous with CAD and is a fixture in design studios worldwide.
Autodesk have industry-leading 3D solutions for industrial design and manufacturing; automotive and transportation; education; architecture, engineering and construction;utilities and telecommunications; as well as media and entertainment. Today the company stands as a world leader in 2D and 3D design, engineering, and entertainment software.
Autodesk tested the AGDA waters in August 2008 as a major sponsor of the 12th AGDA International Speaker Tour by Barbara Glauber. "Turnout was excellent... and our message got to around 500 graphic designers; I've been impressed so far working with AGDA," declared Paul Hellyer, Business Development Manager.
"The Autodesk Media and Entertainment team is delighted to be able to partner with AGDA on ongoing marketing activities and it's awards programme. We welcome the opportunity that AGDA will provide us with, to communicate with all the designers out there who are interested in bringing 3D into their creative processes", said Paul.
Whether it's long-range, fundamental engineering projects; development and optimization activities; comarketing initiatives; or go-to-market and sales engagements, Autodesk works with the resources, ideas, and creative thinking of trailblazing companies to help keep its products and solutions on the leading edge of performance and value.
One such example is US film director, James Cameron and his production company, Lightstorm Entertainment, who pioneered a new method for making visual effects movies with advanced virtual cinematography techniques to create the groundbreaking sci-fi epic, Avatar. Using Autodesk® MotionBuilder® and Autodesk® Maya® software, the team created a virtual stage or "volume" in which they could capture actors' performances and apply them directly to computer graphics (CG) characters, while viewing the results in real-time. This unique soundstage gave Cameron the ability to direct a high quality CG performance as if it were live action.
As Paul observes, "creative professionals are seeking to capitalize on the dynamic and far reaching opportunities offered by the web by creating sophisticated high quality content."
AGDA is proud and delighted to welcome Autodesk as AGDA Premium Partner and is looking forward to working closely together on how Autodesk's superior technology can engage with our innovative communities and resonate even better with our members.
