Incorporation of the Australian Design Council
December 2009 is a significant turning point for Australian Design and deserves celebration!
AGDA together with a number of key allied professional organisations has held dedicated and collegiate discussion over the last 6 months culminating in the successful formation of the Australian Design Council- which includes the Australian Institute of Architects, Planning Institute of Australia (Urban Design), Australian Fashion Council, Australian Institute of Landscape Architects, Craft Australia, Australian Craft and Design Centres, Australian Network for Craft and Technology, Council of Textile and Fashion Industries, Design Institute of Australia and the National Association for the Visual Artists.
The ADC represents the collective vision and aspirations of a combined sum of 20,000 association members and more than 70,000 practitioners nationwide.
Each organization has brought important innovative ideas and collaborative actions to the table, united in a genuine purpose ‘to do together that which one cannot do alone' as a voice to industry and government.

A Home for Designers from Abroad in Beijing
Aiming to pool the global power of creativity by fostering a home for designers from abroad, the Beijing Design Service Centre (DSC) was officially initiated on October 16 by the Gehua Beijing Creative Centre (BCC) during the 1st Beijing Design Week and the Icograda World Congress 2009.
AGDA's National representatives at the IDW were invited to review the comprehensive services ranging from time-based rental of office space, professional equipment and ancillary facilities, to design consulting, project referral, agent and brand management services, including services such as business negotiation, translation and copyright protection.
As part of that service, appropriate partners will be selected via a database of portfolios reviewed every October. The DSC's vision is that "a cooperative platform for design projects will be established with the Centre as the core, while creative talents from across the world will be pooled together to carry out communication and cooperation with top-end counterparts in China."
