Maine Recycled Highlights the beauty of the world

K.W.Doggett Fine Paper recently launched their Maine Recycled promotion which consists of a photographic booklet, postcards and vintage poster, complemented by a unique element - a restored Speedwell road racing bicycle.

Manufactured by Arjowiggins Graphic (France), Maine Recycled is a coated A2+ quality sheet made with an amazing 60% FSC® certified post consumer recycled waste and 40% FSC® certified virgin fibres. It is suitable for offset and digital printing (including HP Indigo) and is often referred to as the ‘whitest shade of green' on the market. The recycled component is mainly sorted office waste made at Europe's number one producer of
recycled pulp - Greenfield Mill. Maine Recycled is also carbon neutral from cradle to printer, certified by UK firm The CarbonNeutral Company.

Sydney design agency Thursday Design created the campaign based around the single minded proposition that ‘Maine Recycled highlights the beauty of the world'. Craig Johns, Creative Director, Thursday Design adds: "The decision to restore (or recycle) a once beautiful bicycle seemed to us to be the perfect metaphor for the brand. Commissioning a beautifully shot photographic essay of a once great bike being restored, not only reinforces the key brand message (highlighting the beauty of the world), but cleverly conveys an
environmental story too. Collaborating with really talented people on a paper promotion with such a fun twist was complete and satisfying," said Mr Johns.

The Speedwell road racer was built in Redfern from the late 1950s to the early 1970s. The frame of the Maine Recycled bike was found abandoned in unrideable condition and turned over to Sarah Langdon at Stallion Bikes in Redfern. Her brief was to use as much of the existing bike as possible, to repair rather than replace, to ‘recycle’ the beautiful old bike into a modern classic.

The features of Maine Recycled include high whiteness, excellent printability, very fast drying time, offset and digital printing options, ISO 9706 long life span and it is acid free. Maine Recycled also boasts excellent opacity to tackle heavy ink loads and is available in Gloss and Silk finishes, in the most popular sheet sizes and weights, ranging from 100-350gsm. Suitable applications include brochures, direct mail, flyers, invitations,
posters, catalogues, annual reports, sustainability reports, magazines and more.
To celebrate the promotion, K.W.Doggett Fine Paper is running various competitions for printers and designers to win bike related goodies. Customers are encouraged to join their Facebook and Twitter pages

for entry details. Four weekly prizes are on offer including one major prize. The weekly prizes include a custom made bicycle seat, subscription to Treadlie magazine and other gifts. The major prize is a custom made bike! To win a bike of their very own, customers are required to submit three printed samples of a job completed on Maine Recycled. Samples are due by 31 July 2012 and the winner announced on 10 August
2012.
