6th February, 2012

“For forty years I’ve been hiding bits of my life in shoe boxes, folders, draws and filing cabinets,” says AGDA Co-Founding Father Mimmo Cozzolino.

He arrived in Australia from Italy when he was 12 and has had a very colourful journey of making Australia his home, including the establishment of a studio ‘All Australian Graffitti’ in the 1970s, and publication of a popular book in the 1980s tracing the history of Australian trademarks, Symbols of Australia.

His latest project, After I Die, forms part of his Masters of Fine Art at Monash University. Cozzolino has used the past four years to single out items which he’s held onto that speak about his life as a migrant and ‘New Australian’ designer, photographer and artist. The research has been captured in nine limited edition books which will be on show next week in Melbourne.

Head to Monash Faculty of Art Design & Architecture Masters Gallery D2.09 on Tue 7, Wed 8 and Thu 9 February 2012, between 10am and 5pm.
