Value of AGDA - Testimonial from Stephen Minning, Brandculture
29th November, 2011
This week Stephen Minning of Brandculture shares his position on the value of AGDA membership:
"Over the past decade I've seen Australian graphic design really take off. The intelligence may have been there before, but technology and inspiration has several disciplines colliding right now. These are creative, new and innovative canvases en mass, nothing is off limits anymore and we (Australians) seem to like things a little different to the rest of the world, after all why not, right? The AGDA brand gives our community of graphic designers a chance to really connect, here and now. The market is now putting more value to this under-exploited medium and what it can do for them: quality design is the future.
Hans Hulsbosch spoke at the Australian museum AGDA event recently and I didn't know what to expect... the work being turned out by his studio is beautiful and well considered and our respective companies had discussed collaborating on a project but who was this guy? Good accent ;-)... ...His demeanour was friendly, purposeful, and I could see by the attention his (several) staff paid to his every word that he was well respected. There's nothing quite like being driven in your work, so many people seem bored by their jobs, not this guy, he was still very into it and wearing his years well. Clients must sense it, 'this mob are going to deliver, without fail'. I wanted to email him, i just didn't know what to say... I'll get inspired by something sooner or later I'm sure :-) "

We will be hearing from AGDA members around the country on why they value their AGDA membership and what they enjoy about being part of the AGDA community.
Whether it is a story about connecting with someone, being inspired by a guest speaker, an AGDA Award they have won, or an AGDA event that made a difference in their designer life.
Share your story and write to communications@agda.com.au
