The Value of AGDA - Mike Rigby, Interbrand Australia
7th November, 2011
In a new feature on the AGDA site we will be hearing from AGDA members around the country on why they value their AGDA membership and what they enjoy about being part of the AGDA community.
Whether it is a story about connecting with someone, being inspired by a guest speaker, an AGDA Award they have won, or an AGDA event that made a difference in their designer life.
First up is Mike Rigby from Interbrand Australia:
AGDA represents one of the most dynamic, exciting and creative industries in Australia - graphic design. The AGDA membership community is a network of like minded, passionate people, who care about what they do and share a common love of design. AGDA's purpose is to promote, protect and educate it's members through a wide array of programs, designed to offer value no matter your experience level.
AGDA promotes our industries finest work through it's Biennial Awards Program. The awards also provide inspiration and opportunity for many. To win an AGDA award carries much gravitas and opens many doors for designers.
Membership brings with it lots of benefits and opportunities. Access to the industries best thinkers. Opportunities to learn, connect and to be part of a bigger whole. It also provides a social platform - a forum, in which members can share skills, contacts, experiences and advice (usually over a cold beer or two).
AGDA also promotes the value of design to business leaders. Encouraging clients to appreciate that design at its best is transformational. That it can challenge perceptions, revitalize businesses and on occasion, change the world.
