Coke Prints 150 Popular First Names on Bottles for Summer Campaign
7th October, 2011
For its ’Share a Coke’ summer campaign in Australia, Coca-Cola is replacing its well-known branding with popular first names in the country.
The 150 most popular first names of the Australian population would be printed on the bottle labels, Each of 150 names also have a song written, which can be heard on the Coca-Cola Australia Facebook page.
“Names were chosen to represent a cross section of the Australian population. We used publicly available data to review the most popular names in Australian and ethic representation in Australia to ensure the diversity of our multi-cultural nation was represented appropriately,” a Coke spokesperson said. "We are using the power of the first name in a playful and social way to remind people of those in their lives they may have lost touch with or have yet toconnect with,” said Lucie Austin, marketing director, Coca-cola South Pacific. “We’ve put names on Coca-Cola bottles so consumers will have fun finding their friends’ and family members’ names and then enjoy sharing a Coke together.”
For more unusual names, shoppers can create custom cans at Westfield Shopping Centres.
