After ten years of experience across magazine, brochure, packaging and exhibition design, Mark Gowing began his own practice in Sydney in 1997.

Mark Gowing Design is a communications studio working on projects in both the corporate and cultural fields, and specialises in brand identity, custom typography and the traditions of book, trademark and poster design.

Mark Gowing has been the creative director for Hopscotch Films since its inception in 2002 and has established a number of long term relationships with respected clients including Glen Street Theatre, Inertia Music, Harper Collins Publishers, The Powerhouse Museum and more recently Euroluce Lighting and Sherman Galleries. Mark has also created identities for companies and organisations such as The Weather Channel, 2SER Radio, Sydney Film Festival, Title Store and NRMA Free2go.

Mark Gowing's work has been exhibited in poster and design festivals around the world. In 2006 Mark was presented with 13 AGDA Awards including two Pinnacle Awards, and in 2007 received Two Typographic Excellence Awards from the prestigious New York Type Director's Club.

In 2001, Mark and friend Andrew Khedoori started the independent record label, Preservation Music. Mark acts as creative director and produces CD packaging with an emphasis on engaging experimentalism.

Mark Gowing's approach to visual communication is driven by the belief that good design at heart is simple honesty, and while good design is good business, it also demands cultural responsibility
