HEADLINE STORIES

15 January: Early Bird deadline for Icograda Design Week in India

There is still time to take advantage of the early bird registration rates for the first Icograda Design Week international conference in 2007.  The conference will take place from 8-9 February and is being hosted by the Industrial Design Centre (IDC), which is a post-graduate design school at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, Mumbai. Designed to be lively, interactive and thought provoking, the conference will provide a great opportunity to converse with grandmasters of design, interact with thought leaders and listen to the vision of outstanding designers. The event will throw light on the role of design in a connected global world within the context of design that is local.

Commemorating Social Innovation through Design

To mark its 15 anniversary this winter, the International Design Center NAGOYA (IdcN) is organising an exhibition as well as a series of talks and roundtable discussions to provide a platform for young talent to demonstrate how they use their creative visions to impact the social fabric and improve everyday life.

IdcN is hosting an international conference on 'Design for Social Innovations' that will allow the private sector, the creative community, governments and the general public to converge and exchange ideas on 21-22 January 2007 in Nagoya. Icograda is pleased to extend its endorsement of this event.

Roy White, Matthew Clark and Steph Gibson, GDC – Canada

The Vancouver Aquarium's fundamental purpose as an organization is aquatic conservation. They envision a future in which people and aquatic ecosystems live in balance, contributing to the health and well-being of each other. Inspired by the shape and spirit of earlier logos, the new icon celebrates the Aquarium's history and commitment to the conservation of aquatic life in its many forms.

tipoGrafica last issue: Argentinean Design Magazine

A cycle only closes when a project has been completed and after seventy four issues tipoGráfica thus ceases to be published. During all these years, our publication resolutely fulfilled each of the objectives that gave rise to its creation. It transmitted and promoted a dialog between design professionals and placed didactics and content within the reach of generations of students. It had the privilege of being one of the first print media in Latin America to write with its own letters. Wherever it reached, it radiated the craft and work of typographic thinking. And, although emerging from a culture without a typographic tradition, during all these years it made a decisive contribution to the inclusion of Argentina within the group of nations active in professional and academic typographic study and production.
