The Secretariat of World Olympiad for Urban Design (WOUD-2008) and the Iranian Academy of Art, in collaboration with the International Art & Architecture Research Association (IAARA), Iranian National Commission for UNESCO, Iranian Union of Graphic Designers, Parsyad Urban Design Research Group and the United Nations Human Settlements Program: UN-HABITAT, are inviting international submissions for the design of the WOUD 2008 identity.

Icograda endorses HiBrand 2007: Non-standard brand-strategies

“HiBrand 2007: Non-standard brand-strategies” is organised by Identity magazine, the first Russian magazine on branding and commercial design. The editors of Identity collaborate and receive information straight from world leaders in the field of brand-consulting and commercial design. Right after first issue came out in 2004, Identity magazine was called the "debut of a year" in the field of advertising and marketing. In 2005, Identity magazine was nominated at Brand of The Year/EFFIE in the Media category. In 2006, the magazine joined the Icograda Design Media Network. Identity's founder and publisher is ArtGraphics.ru design-studio.

:output - one of the biggest international competitions for students in design - invites students to submit work related to an area of Design (such as Graphic Design, Product Design, Architecture, Photography, Illustration, Typeface Design, Multimedia and Moving Image). Works selected by the international jury will be published in the yearbook

:output. Entry deadline is 15 February 2007.

Open positions: Graphic Design/Visual Communication at York University

Applications are invited for a nine-month contractually limited appointment at the Sessional Assistant Professor level in Graphic Design/Visual Communication (print oriented), with undergraduate teaching and administrative responsibilities, effective 15 August 2007. This position requires a print-based designer/educator with extensive art direction/creative direction experience. The applicant should have a strong national and international design awards record, and a strong industry and media network. Teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate
practicum courses in three or more of the following areas: Design Fundamentals, Typography, Editorial Design, Book Design, Typeface Design, Communication Design, Package Design. Applicants are expected to have a completed master's degree or a bachelor's degree with significant record of creative achievement.

Call for papers - FLUX: Design Education in a Changing World

The Design Education Forum of Southern Africa (DEFSA) is calling for papers to be delivered at its 5th International Conference in 2007. This conference follows on from the Design Education: Tradition and Modernity conference, hosted by the National Institute of Design in Ahmedabad, India, in March 2005.  The Ahmedabad Declaration, issued at the end of this conference, promoted the notion of a biennial International Design Education Conference, to be hosted in different countries, and the development of an international forum on Design and Education.
 
The Cape Peninsula University of Technology, Cape Town, South Africa is hosting this year’s conference, the second of the International Design Education conferences as envisaged in the Ahmedabad Declaration, on 3rd to 5th October 2007.
