red dot award: communication design 2007 - on the lookout for the best

The red dot award: communication design is starting a new round. Designers, advertising agencies, and firms producing communication design pieces from around the world are invited starting now to submit their work to the competition and to expose their talents to international comparison. With over 6,000 submissions last year alone, the red dot design award is a top design competition and one of the biggest worldwide. Products and works that stand out in the competition will then be presented to the public for one year in the red dot design museum. The registration deadline is 22 June 2007.

Hector Villaverde receives the Eduardo Munoz Bachs Honorary Award

On Friday, 27 April 2007, Hector Villaverde, President of Prografica, received the "Eduardo Munoz Bachs Honorary Award", in a ceremony that took place on the occasion of World Graphics Day. The award, a recognition to lifetime achievement in graphic design, is given yearly by the Visual Artists Association (UNEAC).

Grafist: 11 International Istanbul Graphic Design Week

Grafist 11 opens this week at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University in Istanbul, Turkey. The six day programme includes workshops, seminars and an international exhibitions throughout the city. The event is endorsed by Icograda.

Creative Community Singapore launches two new schemes

CCS hopes to evolve a creative and connected community where arts, culture, business and technology converge to empower and engage individuals. We believe that innovation thrives when people with creative ideas are given the right support. This is the reason why we are unveiling two new schemes, which integrate funding with non-financial assistance, to give these talents an opportunity to realise their potential, by nurturing their creativity and turning their ideas into sustainable creative businesses.
 
Creative Talent Fund
Targeted at individuals and organizations in Singapore, the Creative Talent Fund aims to promote creativity and entrepreneurship in the community by providing support for prototype, proof-of-concept or test-trial of ideas and concepts involving the Creative Industries.
 
Creative Business Fund
Targeted at organisations in Singapore, the Creative Business Fund aims to foster and support the development of viable creative businesses in the Creative Industries.
 
The closing date for the first round of proposal submissions for both schemes is Tuesday, 15 May 07.

Rockport Publishers' Call for Entries - Extension

Design Matters: Packaging is a how-to package design book slated for release in July 2008. The book, authored and designed by Minneapolis design firm Capsule, and published by Rockport Publishers, is the third in the Design Matters series.

Capsule and Rockport are currently accepting submissions for publication. Attached are submission guidelines, as well as book details and publisher information.

This is a time sensitive project. Please have submissions in no later than 5 May 2007 for consideration.
