The State of Design Festival will turn the market concept on its head with ReadyMadeMarket, a one-off weekend city market with stalls presented by well-known design retailers and design businesses. ReadyMadeMarket will be held at Federation Square undercover car park from 10am - 5pm Saturday, 31 July.
ReadyMadeMarket will feature current and collectable design products in an informal, fun setting, with delectable offerings from Zargatt at Federation Square.
Among the stallholders will be Space, RG Madden, Fat 4 and many more. Professional design bodies, including the Australian Graphic Design Association and the Design Institute of Australia have booked supersites from which their members will sell their wares.
Driving the ReadyMadeMarket is the idea of making design and designer goods available to everyone and showcasing well-designed products. The ReadyMadeMarket will bring together a diverse mix of well-known design-focused businesses, student designers, emerging designers, and professional designers in one accessible space.
As the major retail activity of the State of Design Festival, ReadyMadeMarket will add to Melbourne's reputation as a Mecca for good design. Federation Square, where urban design and leisure intersect, is the fitting location for design market shopping.
