Viewing of student work

Tasmanian Awards for Excellence 96
Our second year as one of the three hosts - the two others being the Public Relations Institute of Australia (Tasmania) and the Art Directors Club of Tasmania. Awards for Excellence in Graphic Design entries almost doubled, from 107 in 1995 to 179 this year. At the dinner on 25 October, the Gold and Merit awards were made.

Graphic design students from the School of Art made a strong showing, with John Clemons taking out a Gold Award for Exhibition Catalogues, the Student Award, and the overall Gold Award for Excellence in Graphic Design. The judges were Ian Kidd (SA), Annette Harcus (NSW) and Amanda Roach (VIC), who also made time to give presentations of their work to students and AGDA members.
Australian Design Professionals Project General Meeting
This was presented by AGDA National President, Russell Bevers, on 27 August, with an audience of 62 drawn from graphic design, textile design, furniture design, product design, educators and students.
Art Forum
The School of Art brought Brian Sadgrove to Hobart for a presentation of thirty years of graphic design, with over 150 people in attendance.
Seminar: Copyright for Graphic Designers
Presented by Anne Fitzgerald, intellectual property expert from the Law School, University of Tasmania, and Catherine Prideaux, a solicitor and professional musician. This was organised by AGDA Tasmania in conjunction with the School of Art.
Show and tell

- 1996 Interpretation design project for the Lake St Clair Park Centre, Tasmania by Julie Eijdenberg (Graphic Designer) on 11 May 1996.
