HKDA Awards 07 exhibition now open in InnoCentre
In order to showcase design to the general public, Hong Kong Design Centre has co-organised with Hong Kong Designers' Association to bring the "HKDA Awards 07" Exhibition, one of the exceptional Hong Kong design awards exhibitions, to the InnoCentre from 8-30 January 2008.

Call for Entries :output 2008
Works carried out by students usually disappear into drawers after presentation to a relatively small college audience. There the work remains invisible. We want to change that. :output is the biggest international competition for students in design and architecture. The works selected by the jury will be published in the yearbook :output.

Open positions: Dean, Faculty of Design, Ontario College of Art & Design
The Ontario College of Art & Design, one of Canada’s foremost institutions for advanced education in art and design, invites expressions of interest, applications, and nominations for the position of Dean of the Faculty of Design, to take office July 2008. The Dean of Design is responsible for the educational leadership, development and supervision of the Faculty of Design and the integration of the Faculty of Design into the larger strategic plan of the university. Working collaboratively and in close consultation with the Deans of the Faculties of Art and Liberal Studies and reporting to the Vice-President, Academic, the Dean will promote effective management of the university’s academic programs, research, outreach, support its educational goals, and enrich university life.
The successful candidate will be a visionary educational leader, with an advanced degree in design or a related degree, a significant record of professional or research activity in the field, and substantial teaching and administrative experience. Candidates will have a proven ability to develop and implement innovative undergraduate and graduate curriculum in design; an understanding of digital and analogue mediums; as well as strong knowledge of experiential studio learning, research practice in design, and current issues in design and education. A proven capacity to work in a collaborative structure and in collaborative initiatives with other Faculties and institutions is essential, as are outstanding outreach, program development, communications, administrative and interpersonal skills.

Slovak Design Center will continue Young Package Competition
For several years now, the Czech Design Center has organized the international competition Mlady´ obal (Young Package) with the help of the Icograda. The Slovak Design Centre has supported this activity since the beginning of its existence. With the Czech Design Center’s loss of funding effective 1 January 2008, the Slovak Design Centre has reached an agreement with the Czech Design Center to continue with the Mlady´obal (Young Package) competition with the current organiser, the Czech agency Antipol. The competition rules remain unchanged.

Call for Speakers: Punkt, 15-20 July, 2008 Buffalo, New York
The Society of Typographic Aficionados (SOTA) will present its third Type and Design Education Forum as part of TypeCon2008. TypeCon2008 is the annual conference of SOTA, an international non-profit organisation dedicated to the promotion, study, and support of type design, typography, and the related arts. This special program will be held on Thursday, 17 July, at the Hyatt Regency in downtown Buffalo. The forum will be devoted to addressing issues faced by type educators and the institutions they represent. The program will feature presentations in conjunction with breakout sessions dedicated to the open exchange of ideas and experiences. Proposals should contain your biography/resume/CV, your area(s) of interest/specialty, a description of your proposed presentation and/or breakout session, and a statement about why you’d like to participate. Please include a speaking reference if you have not previously presented at a TypeCon event. For more information about SOTA, please visit the website at http://www.typesociety.org. Deadline for submissions is 15 February 2008.
