When was the last time you had a look at the AGDA Design Research Journal?
visual:design:scholarship is an internationally refereed, online journal that aims to stimulate, support and disseminate design research with a focus on visual communication design in the Australasian context.
Our fearless managing editors, Sid Newton and Mark Roxburgh, have revamped the Journal to expand its scope for collecting and disseminating critical writing in Australian design.
This includes the creation of a non-refereed section called Position Statements and Resource Reviews, that is intended to publish, for example:
interviews, manifestos, design and designer reviews, student essays, responses to refereed articles, project briefs, curriculum reviews, conference reports, letters to the editors, book reviews, reviews of teaching resources and examples of work
Recent refereed additions to the Journal include:
- Sharpening One's Axe: Making a Case for a Comprehensive Approach to Research in the Graphic Design Process, by P.J. Nini
- Before and After the Computer: The Role of Drawing in Graphic Design, by P. Schenk
- Identifying, Categorising and Rationalising Digital Design Moves Made by Novice Graphic Designers, by C. Stone
