AntiAIDS-Ukraine: 2 International Poster and Computer Animation Competition
In 2007, twenty years will have passed since the first HIV infection case was registered in Ukraine. A whole generation has grown up in this time. This generation lives with this disease. We understand that to great extent this is a behavioural disease. And as a result, youth our future - turned out to be most vulnerable to it. This has become a fact for any country.

For the first time, various hand-signs from diverse sources are graphically unified into one single visual family of almost 200 handsigns. This compendium is the result of a long collection of pictures and multiple hand signage. In accordance with this entire collection, the name of the typeface is a mix: "h-and-s". An international team collaborated in the project.

The history of design education in Bulgaria exists on the specific way. With long tradition of the fine and applied art education, we could remark various historical periods. There are the flashes of remarkable achievements and the time of silence by usage of 'Ezop's metaphor language' under the pressure of political circumstances.

Young Design Talent Show, 14 November - 31 December 2006
An exhibition of award-winning designers and entrepreneurs from Hong Kong and abroad plus next generation designers from local design institutions - all young, talented and passionate about what they do. The exhibition is a small window into the broad world that expresses design and its wide spectrum of disciplines. Underlying the diversity of work is a process that designers go through in order to solve problems and satisfy the needs of users. The show provides an opportunity to raise the profile of these extremely talented young designers while increasing public awareness of new creative standards from here and overseas.

DMI announces “Design Management Team of the Year” award
The Design Management Institute (DMI) is proud to announce the establishment of the DMI “Design Management Team of the Year” award. This honour will be granted to design management teams that demonstrate exceptional business practice. This year, the criterion is based on longevity in the field, coupled with relevancy of design work past and present. The 2006 DMI Design Management Team of the Year was introduced at DMI’s 31st International Design Management Conference in Manchester, Vermont. The inaugural award was issued to two leaders in the industry who have succeeded in 80 years of practice: Philips Design and Teague.

World nations represented include England, Italy, China, the United States of America, and Canada. This years 'Best of Show' honour was awarded to Cahan & Associates out of San Francisco for their complete magazine design for See, issue 4. The design studio Paprika, out of Montreal, has the largest presence in the show with 10 winners. Among the many pieces presented in the annual are 8 magazines, 10 books, 6 cd packages or series of cd packages, 16 posters, 9 photographs or series of photographs, 1 stamp, 1 six-pack of beer, and 1 roll of toilet paper.
