7 Icograda Achievement Awards!
The Icograda Excellence Award is the highest recognition granted by Icograda to designers for their contribution to graphic design. While the Icograda Excellence Award is typically granted to reward a piece of design work, the Icograda Achievement Award honours an outstanding career.
In September 2002, Icograda gave out 7 Icograda Achievement Awards, 3 to prominent Chinese graphic designers: MaDegang, Yu Bingnan and Qi Feng; and 4 to outstanding Taiwanese designers: Donna Lung, Yang Chuan-Sheng, Ben Wang and Apex Lin. Professor Yu Bingan received his award on 20 September, in Beijing. Ma Degang and Qi Feng were awarded in Shanghai on 24 September. Donna Lung, Yang Chuan-Sheng, Apex Lin and Ben Wang were given their awards in Taipei on 29 September.

Zimbabwe has hit the headlines and we have been catapulted from obscurity to the glare of international scrutiny. But the current interest in the economic and political situation only mirrors a portion of our experience as an African country. In spite of difficulties people still run businesses, students enrol at college, consumers spend, and projects, programmes and products are launched. The experiences of neighbouring countries testify to this. We are all trying to move forward, it's just that the pace has been reduced to a painful crawl.
As a profession, graphic design has only enjoyed a few years of normality, having emerged from a colonial past, war of liberation and the ten-year State of Emergency…

This design competition aims to raise awareness of Dutch design and will showcase works with a range of themes, including communication, product and space. The event is a joint initiative of professional designers (united in BNO, the Dutch Designers Association), their patrons (united in Designlink) and the independent association Stichting Nederlandse Designprijzen. An eminent prize jury, chaired by Wim Crouwel, will award 14 Dutch Design Awards and select 100 designs that will be included in a bound catalogue and a public exhibition.
