Color-Blind Customers Of Today
By Naseem Javed
Think of Blue and what comes to mind is a blue ocean. A blue sky? Sometimes Big Blue, which is IBM. It is true that IBM did acquire a secondary meaning and a legendary position of being recognized as such. After all it was an army in blue suits pushing forward the towering blue mainframe computers. It was only yesterday...

30 September 2002 - Last Day to Obtain Font Aid II September Eleven Font.
Buffalo, New York, USA
W: http://www.typesociety.org
The Society of Typographic Aficionados (SOTA) has announced that sales of the September Eleven font will end on the last day of this month. The font, a collaborative effort by 90 type designers from more than 20 countries, consists of nearly 100 question mark (?) glyphs expressing the designers' individual reactions to the tragic events of September 11, 2001.
Inspired by Claes Kallarsson's Font Aid project benefiting UNICEF, Stuart Sandler initiated Font Aid II, with SOTA acting as the organizing body for the effort. The resulting font was made available to the public as "charity-ware" through donations accepted at MyFonts.com. The September Eleven font has raised over $5,000 to date, with all proceeds going to the American Red Cross and its victim relief efforts.
The September Eleven font is available through September 30, 2002, for the donation of your choice at http://www.myfonts.com/FontFamily21194.html. Although the font will no longer be available for download after that date, the September Eleven character showings and information will remain online in remembrance of the victims of terrorism throughout the world.

Keynote speakers at GraficEurope, the first conference for the pan-European graphic design profession, are to include the US/ Austrian controversial master Stefan Sagmeister, British enfant terrible Peter Saville, veteran Dutch innovator Wim Crouwel and movie-graphics award winner Kyle Cooper of California based consultancy Imaginary Forces. The conference will take place 27 > 29 March 2003 at the Catalonia Palace of Congresses, Barcelona. GraficEurope answers a demand for a high level professional conference that draws on the skills and experience of practitioners from around the world, dealing with themes that are presenting both opportunities and threats to the profession at the moment. The speakers will be looking at ideas such as the reviving ethical awareness in design practice, the nature of creative collaboration, the blurring of boundaries between traditional design disciplines as new technologies make new demands and new possibilities, and getting to the very heart of the creative process.
