Augusto Morello Passed Away
The Icograda community is saddened to hear of the passing of Augusto Morello on 4 September 2002. His passing is a real loss, and he will be remembered as a key figure in international design. His intellectual capacity and original perspective made him an ongoing source of inspiration to many. Augusto was influential, cultured, and an ongoing source of wisdom and humor. He was both a persuasive leader and an able servant of the design profession, and his multi-faceted involvements were an engine of change. Icograda wishes to convey respect to his family, friends, and numerous colleagues around the world.

Do you feel your business is doing better, the same or worse than three months ago?
As we want to keep track of the changes in the practice and your forecasts for the times to come, we repeat this question every few months in trying to establish the flow of trends and other issues regarding graphic design.
Compared to the results we received from you three months ago, the situation is seems to be getting even worse. Only 6 percent consider their situation to have improved, compared to previous 7 percent. The percentage of designers who answered that their situation is more or less the same dropped significantly (7 compared to previous 12 percent), while the percentage of designers who are facing worse times than before has grown from 81 to 87 percent. Not a very optimistic result, but let us all hope for the better.
Do you feel your business is doing better, the same or worse than three months ago?
Better 6%
Same 7%
Worse 87%

Dear Colleagues!
We are addressing you touched with the deep feelings caused by the recent tragedy in our country - Czech Republic - and countries of our Central European neighbours. The natural disaster struck wide territories, forced thousands of people to leave their homes, it paralysed industry, agriculture and transportation, damaged historical monuments and modern cultural equipment, it caused enormous ecological damages. It killed human lives. From the first moments we all witnessed extraordinarily strong solidarity with the victims of the catastrophe, that crossed the borders of our small country. People in the affected areas receive assistance and support not only from neighbours and co-citizens but from dozens of close and remote countries of the world. We know that suffering of a similar kind is nothing extraordinary in the global scope. Not only mad elements - fires, floods, hurricanes, earthquakes, not only large industrial and ecological catastrophes, but unfortunately also armed collisions bring damages and draw citizens of all continents into blanks. The touch of solidarity at least mitigates material losses and provides invaluable moral and psychic support at difficult moments.
We believe that the phenomenon of solidarity is a big topic of the period that we often perceive as the ice age of human relationships. We believe that it is the time to be able to reflect its human face; to be able to sensitively hold it and show it by graphical means. The poster is the medium that joins emotionality of art mes- sage with the ability to communicate the idea. The Association of Decorative Graphics and Graphical Design of the Syndicate of Fine Artists has decided to organise the international exhibition of posters SOLIDARITY in Prague and invites you to participate in this event. We believe that your work will not be missing from this project.
