Design and illustration professionals from throughout world have united for an amazing project that provides entertainment, inspiration and art therapy to chronically ill children.

Art with Heart, a Seattle charity, is reaching out to children through an activity book called Oodles of Doodles for Your Noodle. The book provides over 100 pages of games, puzzles and other activities that encourage these special children to express themselves through imagination and creativity.

In April 2000, a volunteer team of professionals from Art with Heart began researching and consulting with hospitals nationwide to create activities that would help children who are dealing with long-term illnesses. The contents of the book are based upon this research. Ninety seven internationally-known artists have donated their tremendous talents to illustrate the book's various activity pages. It is a project based upon collaboration of hearts and hands.

El diseno perfecto: A fact-finding expedition to Cuba
by Darren Stebeleski

I am not sure about what I was looking for when I went to Cuba. Knowing what I knew about the history of the Cuban poster, I think I was hoping for this kind of utopian socialist society, where designer was regarded as the highest of all professions. The purveyor of propaganda. Now, keep in mind, Cubans refer to all types of advertising as "propaganda", forsaking the usual Spanish translation "publicidad", which I think is really great, for why beat around the bush?

How many design exhibitions you participate in per year?

As we try to find out more about your design work and practice, we would like to know how active you are in exhibitioning your work. How many exhibitions (approximately) you take part in in one year’s time?

Give your opinion and vote at http://www.icograda.org

F R O M   P R E V I O U S   O P I N I O N

Are you satisfied with your design education?

We learnt already that about 80 percent of you graduated in graphic design. It is a good result in terms of numbers, but we wanted to know how you would rate the quality your design education.

Either you are all too modest or design education has yet a long way to go! Over a half of you stated you are not at all satisfied with your design education. 31 percent are relatively satisfied, but aware that there is still a lot to learn. That leaves just 13 pecent of you who are happy and satisfied with what you learnt in design schools.

Are you satisfied with your design education?
Yes, I learnt quite a lot 13%
Relatively, I still have a lot to learn 31%
Not at all 56%

Jump Starting Your Experience Strategy
W: http://www.dmi.org/dmi/html/education/seminars/jsye.htm
Dave Norton, PhD., Vice President, Research and Experience Strategy, Yamamoto Moss
Chicago, IL, USA

You've nailed your brand strategy. What's next? Brands that do not live up to the experience they promise put themselves at risk of being commoditized. On the other hand, brands that truly deliver a memorable experience reap tremendous rewards in customer loyalty and premium value. The next step is defining your experience strategy. An experience strategy helps you define everything holistically; from how anticipation is built, to the most important interactions your customers have and the memories that they form. This seminar provides hands-on guidance to creating a more memorable experience for the customer.
