Poster: Love Square and Circle
by Boris Ljubicic, HDD, Croatia
It is difficult to bring the basic geometrical forms of a square and a circle into a visually equal relationship. A circle is curved, a square is straight - and they are not compatible. Their difference has also been defined in the cultures of this world. Thus, the circle represents the culture of the EAST (China), while the square symbolises the culture of the WEST (Greece). Nor are philosophical, religious and political principles immune from these fundamental forms (shapes); indeed, both their theoretical and practical segments are partially defined by them. This is why one has to say I LOVE A SQUARE AND A CIRCLE or I LOVE A CIRCLE AND A SQUARE.
This poster represents a synthesis of differences, from a free angle of viewing and observation of any of the forms, or of their composite image. It is this composite image that represents the WORLD and its global image in all its uniqueness and variety. The illusion that the poster creates as a 3D object is its changeability and visual vibration in relation to an observer who is moving. The poster was awarded with Red Dot: Best Of The Best 2001.

By Stefan Mumaw, Published by Rockport
Back when the Internet was a new there were a lot of simple sites that were easy to navigate but often content was lacking. We have moved on to the “content is kung” age which has improved the level of information but resulted in sites being overwhelming and slow to access. So how do designers keep sites simple whilst ensuring that people get information they want? Internet expert Stefan Mumaw provides the answers trough in-depth profiles of 24 top sites. The book is broken down into three main sections: redefining content presentation, encouraging visual minimalism and simplifying the user experience.
