Icograda to Launch International Education Network

Icograda will hold a two-day symposium to launch the Education Network, an international network of educational institutions that offer programs in graphic design. The inaugural event will be held 20-21 June 2002 in Brno (Czech Republic). Representatives of 50 schools from around the world will exchange views on the future of graphic design education, and develop an agenda for the networking initiative.

Day 1 of the symposium will feature presentations and panel discussions on the state of graphic design education worldwide. On Day 2, participants will define the structure and agenda for the network and review a proposed Education Network website. The dedicated website will provide a high profile opportunity for member schools to present current programs and exhibit student work. Following the symposium, membership to the network will be opened to all schools.

The event will follow the Icograda 'Identity/Integrity' Conference in Brno, which will be held 18-19 June 2002, and will run concurrently with the Icograda 'East Meets West' Student Workshop. For more information about events in Brno, visit http://www.brno2002.cz

Graphic Design Iran 1
by Majid Abbasi, IGDS, Iran

The cover design of the book is related to the first selected woks of Iranian graphic designers. The plastic football is the one Iranians play with in public places such as streets and alleys... It is about 40 years old, cheap and available to everyone in different colors and mass production. The interesting from of the ball can have permanent impression on the viewer.

Are you an active member of your association?

Some designers just like being members of an association and enjoying the benefits. Others take on a more active role and help on concrete initiatives, projects and actions. There are also those who attend meetings but are reluctant to take more upon themselves. Which type are you?

Give your opinion and vote at http://www.icograda.org
