The 7th Young Package Competition, Czech Republic, has received Icograda's endorsement. Organised by the Design Centre of Czech Republic, the aim of the competition is to stimulate new approaches to cardboard and corrugated board packaging from the aspects of shape, technology and graphic design in order to create packaging of an original design. For the first time this year, plastic materials are also allowed. Packaging is viewed as a means of product protection and presentation. The competition maps new approaches to packaging technologies and related production.

It's Time for Certification
By Lauri Baram
Eight years ago, designer Ellen Shapiro proposed a solution to help clients distinguish between novice and professional designers. Lauri Baram was listening.
Today, design is king. There are more than 350,000 graphic designers in the U.S. alone. Corporate America understands that good design is good business. But the distinction between the professional designer and the client's nephew who built his own Web page isn't any clearer.

Why are you dissatisfied with your Art director?
As we found out so far, over a half of you seem to be unhappy about your collaboration with your Art director. We are trying to ascertain possible reasons for your dissatisfaction. Possible reasons can be numerous and individual so we cannot even attempt to list them all here, but we want to know what you think is the main reason for this.
Give your opinion and vote at http://www.icograda.org

F R O M P R E V I O U S O P I N I O N
How would you rate your collaboration with your Art director?
As we saw previously, about a half of you collaborate with Art directors, either on occasional or permanent basis. We went further to ask you how you rated your relationship and their understanding of design.
Your answers definitely show cause for some concern. Over a half of you (57 percent) regard their collaboation with their Art director as bad, which is quite a stunning result. 26 percent of you find it tolerable and just 17 percent of you said it was great. With such a result in front of us, it seems that over a half of you have a permanent source of frustration in their daily practice.
How would you rate your collaboration with your Art director?
Great 17%
Tolerable 26%
Bad 57%
