Icograda proposes changes that will favour emerging economies.
Prior to the first Icograda Regional Meeting held in Eastern Europe during the Graphic Design Week organized by the Croatian design associations, Ulupuh and HDD, the Board of the International Council of Graphic Design Associations (Icograda) met for three days.
President David Grossman stated: "This Board Meeting concluded with three major decisions. The first one is to propose that our next General Assembly approve a new fee structure which will make membership of graphic design associations representing emerging economies in Icograda more affordable. This is to be accomplished by the introduction of a tiered fee structure that will be related to each country's per capita GNP. The second decision is to hold a major Icograda International Conference on the theme of Corporate Identity -- Corporate Integrity in Brno, Czech Republic, in June 2002, concurrently with the 20th Brno Biennial. Thirdly, Icograda will launch a new program to link graphic design educational institutions around the world and create an Icograda network called eduNet. Icograda eduNet will forster communication, exchange and collaboration between schools, lecturers and students. The first project will be announced shortly, and a conference, an exhibition and student workshop are scheduled for June 2002 in Brno."
The board also granted provisional membership to the National Institute of Design (NID) in Ahmedabad, India. The decision will be presented for ratification at the upcoming General Assembly to be held in South Africa in September 2001. This brings the total number of Icograda member associations to 69, representing 44 countries.
The next Icograda Regional Meeting will be held in Havana, Cuba, in June 2001 along with the Icograda World Design Perspectives Seminar. The 19th Icograda world congress, Continental Shift 2001, will take place in Sandton, South Africa in September 2001 in conjunction with Icograda's 19th General Assembly. The 20th General Assembly and world design congress, Look -- from Sight to Insight, will be held in Nagoya, Japan in 2003.

100th Anniversary of Croatian writers Society Stamp

Typewriter and typewriter font are used as direct associations. Large portion of empty space (empty sheet of paper with lines) is meant to interact with the viewer. It refers to unwritten or yet to be written which is on the other hand, "the writer's fear of all fears".
Orsat Frankovic graduated graphic design in Zagreb in 1995. and postgraduated from the Royal College of Art in London in 1997. He was awarded with Icograda Award for young designer in 1993. and with Grand Prix at ZGRAF 7 in 1995. For this work he was recently awarded with the Icograda Exellence Award at the 02 - Annual Exhibition of Croatian Design

Sensible Learning of Intelligent Design

Conceptual processes establish unique and individual criteria.
Teaching implies designing, as teaching is synonymous with communicating. Graphic ideas [greater equal]are named[less equal] and applied to verbal arguments. The visual manner of thinking design and its learning process correspond to a language, in the context of which designers will translate verbal content into graphic content.

KIDP has been renamed

According to the recent revision of the Industrial Design Law, KIDP (Korea Institute of Design Promotion) has been renamed the Korea Institute of Design Promotion, while its abbreviation titile remains the same as the previous one. With the revision of its name, KIDP aims to avoid any conceptual confusion that had been caused by the word "industrial" in the name and clarify its role as a unitary organization in a wide range of design professions in Korea.
