- Professional Indemnity insurance - what is it and why have it?

The policies will be brokered by OAMPS Insurance Brokers Limited under an arrangement made initially for a period of 3 years.

This initiative comes at a time when the cost of insurance (in general) is on the increase with personal and business litigation becoming more common and at a time when customers (including governments) are requiring their suppliers and business partners to hold covers such as PI.

The policies themselves will be underwritten by CGU Insurance Australia Limited and carry a discounted rate for AGDA members of up to 15% off the book rate of CGU for graphic designer which is also some 20% less than quotes received from comparable PI insurers.

Application for the policies will be on an individual basis and are provided on completion and return of the simple (and AGDA specialised) 4 page application form which is now available in PDF format on the www site.

It is worth noting also that 30% of the initial brokerage earnt by OAMPS will make it's way back to AGDA in the first year as a (or 'spotter') commission (the proceeds of this will go to the AGDA Foundation, which funds scholarship programs.)

Importantly, we are dealing here with a reputable licenced and ASX listed insurance broker and a reputable and readily recognisable insurer.

The policies will be made suitable for any sized graphic design operation and will allow for an easy extension by OAMPS into other types of insurances for members.
